Grant Assistance Guidelines

We provide financial assistance grants to individuals undergoing breast cancer treatment who are experiencing financial hardship. Our goal is to help ease the burden of everyday expenses so recipients can focus on healing.

Please review the guidelines below before applying.

Who is Elegible

Applicants must:

  • Be currently undergoing treatment for breast cancer

  • Demonstrate financial need related to treatment or its side effects

  • Reside in the United States

  • Be able to provide treatment verification from a medical provider

What the Grant Can Be Used For

Grant funds may be used to help cover essential living expenses, including but not limited to:

  • Rent or mortgage payments

  • Utility bills

  • Transportation to and from treatment

  • Prescription medications

  • Childcare related to treatment

  • Groceries or basic household needs

  • Costs related to acupuncture during treatment and/or recovery

  • Costs related to gym memberships during recovery

Funds are intended to support immediate financial needs during treatment. While we aim to help all that apply, priority is given to those in extreme financial need.

Grant Amounts

Grants can range from $50 to $1,000 (or more) and are based on the amount of people applying for a quarter, and funds raised for that quarter.

  • Amounts awarded depend on:

    • Available funding

    • Financial need

    • Number of applicants in the cycle

Funds may be disbursed by gift card, or direct payment to companies on behalf of the grant recipient. When grant dollars are paid directly to companies on the grant recipient's behalf, we will need additional information to apply grant funds to your account.

How Funds Are Distributed

  • Grants are awarded on a quarterly basis

  • Grants are awarded based on need, then based on remaining available grant dollars

  • Funds raised in one quarter are distributed in the following quarter

  • When possible, payments may be made directly to service providers (such as landlords, utility companies, pharmacies, etc.)

  • While grant recipients may apply as many times as they like in a calendar year, grant disbursement is once per year, allowing The Heal Health Hope Project to impact as many people in need as possible

  • Grant disbursement is the sole discretion of the members of the board of The Heal Health Hope Project

  • Grant recipients will be notified via email and/or telephone of their grant award

Application Timeline

  • Applications are accepted during designated application periods

  • Applicants will be notified of decisions within 4–6 weeks after the application period closes

  • Due to limited funding, not all applicants can be approved

Required Documentation

Applicants will be asked to submit:

  • Basic personal and contact information

  • Date of diagnosis

  • Date of last treatment if applicable

  • Verification of active breast cancer treatment OR verification of treatment ending within the last 12 months

  • A brief statement describing financial need

  • Information on how grant funds would be used

All information is kept confidential and used solely for the purpose of grant review.

Important Notes

  • Submitting an application does not guarantee funding

  • Grants are awarded once per year per applicant

  • Grants are intended for short-term financial assistance and are not ongoing support

  • Grant amounts may vary from year to year and are based on availability of funds

  • Grant funds do not need to be repaid to The Heal Health Hope Project
